Martin County jail records show Girdie Kazee, 39, of Paintsville is charged with assault.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office tells sister station WSAZ Kazee put the pool ball in a sock before hitting the man in the head over the weekend.
Kazee was also accused of stealing her ex-husband's dog as a part of a divorce dispute over who should be the owner of the animal.
"He said 'I'm just going outside to play with the baby,' and Girdie said 'You're not taking my dog,' and she hit him behind his right ear with a pool ball inside of a pink and white sock," friend of the victim Keishian Bowan said.
She says the ex-wife then grabbed the dog and took off running into the woods behind a cemetery next to the home.
"I've never seen someone that unathletic run that fast," Bowan told WSAZ.

Ugh
Another warning sign of a failing relationship.
Guilty!
Pool ball in sock is an improvised “slung shot” or, some might say, mace.
It could be deadly.
Divorce?............I see why......................
Ya think that’s her natural color hair?
It IS deadly!...................
Well, at least she didn’t hit the dog.
Light charge for that. Should be attempted murder. A pool ball in a sock is a deadly weapon.
She’s really behind the 8-ball now
I bet the judge makes her give him the dog, as a settlement.
Meh.
Sam’s butter sock packs more wallop.
Even a cue ball only weighs 6 oz.
Ban pink and white assault socks!
Ive heard for a long time pets take the appearance of their owner and vice versa over time. Wow that has got to be one ugly mutt!
Steven Seagal did that in the bar fight scene in “Out For Justice”.
But he used a bar towel instead of a sock.
“the ex-wife then grabbed the dog and took off running into the woods behind a cemetery next to the home. “
...to the tune of ‘Dueling Banjoes’...
Hilarious!
I have two heavy ball bearings in my kitchen table drawer that I keep for protection...and yes, I’ve told my husband about putting one in a sock and hitting someone in the head with it....
