I don’t know who serves as a singular “personal guardian” to the pope other than collectively the Swiss Guard brigade. Hmmm. I thought of Georg Gänswein, the Prefect of the Papal Household and Benedict's personal secretary. But I can't find a link between him and anything owlish. (His name translates to English as "goose wine." ;-) )
