I used to work with people that swore black bears never attack humans. I would tell them stories -- such as this one -- that refute their naive belief, but they would just scoff.
As they say, you can't fix stupid.

People traveling or camping alone were the mostly likely victims of bear attacks almost 70 percent of the fatalities involved a single person. Only 9 percent of bear attacks occurred with more than 2 people present.
Beware the bear that stalks in silence: followed by a fast rush. Once predatory bear behavior is initiated it may persist for hours unless it is deterred.
