I watch very little television. I am aware of the show and have seen parts of several shows over the last few years. I have never seen a whole show.
Tia Torres, of the show Pit Bulls and Parolees:
“Always carry a break stick”. (pp)
A reality show with tattoos, bad hair, various body piercings, parolees, dangerous dogs, drama real and manufactured, government law enforcement and/or the threat of, life and death (or the threat of) , appeals for money and worry, and baby mamas human and canine, has a very strong appeal for a lot of folks. We are all waiting for the train wreck, comeuppance, or for someone to get bitten, mauled, or pregnant. Reality television at its lowest common denominator, and it’s really inexpensive to produce.
So, again, I say Follow The Money.
ps: Break Sticks are to separate a dog’s jaws from whatever it is mauling.
Right on point RedStateRocker. Thank you. These dog-hating scum are worst then the Trump hating scum. Post this crap somewhere else and get a backbone.
It’s possible I misunderstood here.
Their work, their mission, at “Pit Bulls and Parolees, not the show?
Do you mean rescuing and “rehabilitating” and then finding new owners for pit bull dogs?
I’ll say it again. Pit Bulls attacking my Lab puppy are a big reason why I’ve applied for my ccw. If it happens again, I will pull out my gun and empty the magazine into the attacking pit bull. Given their horrible reputation, I will never be charge with anything because no jury would ever convict me of anything for defending myself or my dog.
I turn animal planet on during the day because my dog seems to enjoy shaking his rope toy whenever a dog comes on - when I watch they always have strict guidelines for adopting the dogs - no other small dog in the house, good fencing and a home visit to see if the dog adapts to the surroundings
Basically it seems that they try to ensure only responsible people get dogs
No. Ive heard all the stories about pit bulls just snapping one day. I still reach out my hand to them when they are held by their owners on leash or even at a dog park off a leash with suburban type owners. If its a dude covered in tag style tats like a gang banger maybe Id not. Im not scared of pit bulls. But if we ever get a dog, I think I would be slightly prejudiced against that breed, and a lot of other big dogs.
That incident didnt really change my mind.
So sweet...
Idiot in my neighborhood walks her Pit puppy rescue, always tries to meet up w/ other dogs. When she approaches me, I tell her, “My dogs are not friendly, vicious, actually...” (Cavaliers, lol). So she hurriedly walks away.
Your dog is sweet and happy — until it’s not.
You just don’t know when that is.
It sounds as though I should watch a number of episodes so that I will be familiar with their standards and MO. The quote source article for the Tia Torres quote I have in my files, and will post it when I find it.
Yep - I’ve known some folks who had 3-4 year old “pussy cat” pit bulls - and found out the hard way that when that little switch clicks in the dog’s head, all bets are off - and one never knows what will activate that switch.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.
It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies.
The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated;
but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end
for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C.S. Lewis
I would not have a pb or pbx around my children or family; the danger is real. Many, not all, pb owners are the dregs of society who look to own a dangerous macho dog to give them some status in their otherwise pathetic lives. Harsh words which are sadly true...
Yes. This is called “going game” by the dogfighters. It’s basically the “on” switch being flipped. And once it has been triggered, the clock is ticking until the next time. Even in a dog that has not “triggered”, the breeding for it is there, and this is part of what makes these dogs so dangerous and deadly. It’s always a “surprise”.
“Dead game” is what is called the specific trait of willingness to fight and maul until one dog or the other in a dogfight is dead — whether its guts are ripped out dragging behind it on the ground or not.
This quality is a desired trait for pit bull type fighting dogs, and is bred for by “dogmen”. It is worth a lot of money, first for the dog that wins the fight, and second for breeding.
As always, follow the money.
But to be punished, however severely, because we have deserved it, because we ought to have known better, is to be treated as a human person made in Gods image.
I hear you, and am listening. Please speak your mind.
You’d have much more credibility if you showed concern
for all dog attacks, compassion for all dog attack victims
and presented strategies for preventing all dog attacks
instead of a zealot like fixation on ‘pitbulls’..
What do you want from me?
