Kanye Wests recent tweets praising Donald Trump have caused controversy online, with many of the rappers music peers speaking out about their thoughts on the matter.
On Twitter over the past few days, Kanye has said that he loves Trump, called the US President his brother, shared a photo of himself wearing a Make America Great Again hat and hit out at Barack Obama.
Trump himself has responded by thanking West and saying that his recent Twitter activity had been very cool.

In the meantime I am enjoying the ongoing explosion of liberal heads and their collective angst!
What have we done? Was nothing learned after Nazi Germany? The only public sentiment is one the propagandists want?
We no longer support those with any view even those with which we disagree?
The public official view of this country is that a decent man, our President, is to be considered a Racist Sociopath
WITH ZERO EVIDENCE FOR THESE TWO ACCUSATIONS.
Hillary Clinton has many obvious traits of sociopathy. Barack Obama did many racist things. Those two are never accused of same.
We are trapped in a despotic land run by an oligarchy controlling us by our fears.
Right you are. But dont take FReepers talking about music stopping in 1972. This subject has nothing to do with actual music. Its about the controlling propaganda, its about 1984, its about us no longer having that beautiful constitutional free speech any more.
I feel bad for Kanye today, but its not just Kanye. Its ANYONE who dares utter something counter to state oligarchy. Its all of us. Please tell me how this is any different from North Korea. Our Great Leader is the oligarchy socially forcing us to hate a good President. And Kanye said the Great Leader is wrong. And now hes been forced off social media and shaken down by his own tribe (music world). He might as well have been sent to a work camp.
"Rock N Roll's been going downhill ever since Buddy Holly died."
Just because you (not you personally) dont look for or listen to new music doesnt mean its not out there.
Here is the definition of music:
1. an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.
2. the tones or sounds employed, occurring in single line (melody) or multiple lines (harmony), and sounded or to be sounded by one or more voices or instruments, or both.
Oh, I definitely include the ‘60s - and ‘50s. - the reason I said “since” the ‘70s. The ‘60s - Motown. Love Motown. Marvin Gaye. Supremes.
You have no idea what sort of music is being made today because you’re relying upon the old passive model and waiting for somebody to play it for you over the radio or on tv. That music is mostly crap, I’ll grant you that. But, the big studios and the big marketing push has gone practically extinct, it’s no longer a passive model you’ve got to actively seek out the good music and it’s actually something of a golden age in that regard. If you rely upon popularity to gauge whether music is good or not you’ll still be lost, but if you know your taste and are open to new musicians, there’s a huge talent pool out there. Go find it. Surely you know how by now. Pandora, Spotify, Apple iTunes, on and on. It’s not difficult.
I remember see the ad poster at Sears back then. It had the 3 girls in panties and bras. Real classy Sears!
OUCH, and I disagree, I love the big bands of the 20's and 30's, the Black Jazz, I appreciate the crooners, the Sinatra's, the Detroit music, etc. Even The 50's rockers. But the 60's and 70's had the best "rock", folk, new age jazz ( think Jean Luc Ponty) etc. The musicians were awesome. The 90's because femal vocalist one hit wondes with a guitar, and rap is just awful, can't think of a great musical backup for rap. So I disagree that it was only "my" era music that I like.
I have a life, work and responsibilities and I don’t have tine to seek out artists.
When you say things like this, I have to agree with those here who say you guys just haven't searched hard enough.
Look, I think I know where you're coming from, having been a Top-40 junkie from around '64 to '78, tapering off after that, and still able to sing/hum so many thousands of pop/rock songs that it's downright scary. So yes, using that as my frame of reference to compare, the current era falls flat on its face --- _as a whole_.
The mistake you make is to look at the worst songs of today, or even at the average songs. But the sheer number of "published" musical artists (ie anyone with an internet connection) today absolutely dwarfs what we had in our kidhood. There's a tremendous amount of great music put out there post-2000, and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to work harder to overcome the noise-to-signal ratio to find the good stuff.
If you don't have time to look yourself, seek out recommendations from friends who do, and who have similar tastes. Here are three pop songs that I find "haunting," even "soaring" - 1st & 3rd are post-2000, 2nd one is '90s. I don't see how anyone could apply "tribal guttural sounds" to any of these ---
And here are a few that I just can't help but tap or sing along with. 1st is 90s. Other two are '00s, with great harmonization:
In a similar vein, I decided by the 70s that I couldn't stand 100% of Country Music. But that bigotry changed in the 90s & 00s & 10s, when I found to my surprise that I couldn't stand only a mere 95% of it, and that there were some real gems in the remaining 5% ---
You have time to piddle online quite a bit, you're certainly here all the time. Just set up a free account on Pandora, let it play in another tab while you're online. It starts with one song that you choose when you open the account, then the software algorithm takes over and chooses other music, some classic, some newer, some from brand new artists. You get to give it thumbs up to keep it on your "station" to be played again, or thumbs down to boot it, never to be heard again. Over time, the algorithm hones it's understanding of your musical taste and preference and gets really good at choosing music that you will like. There are periodic ads on the free service. If you want uninterrupted music you can pay a monthly fee for that.
I’ll have to check it out.
