I’ve stopped using the “socialism has always failed” line and started with, “give me one country where capitalism has failed to bring about prosperity”.
The point being is that socialism has never failed those who are in charge; capitalism has always benefitted the individual.
Most responses are, “well, true capitalism has only been tried in the US.” I just let that hang in the air.
