It seems to be pretty well established through drops, photos, and digging, that 5.5 is com code for "signal strong and clear" and is understood in interpretation as "Im hearing you loud and clear."

Despite this, there is another conversation that some feel is an alternate double meaning having to do with seismic reading depths. There are some believing that RfGs, manmade earthquakes, or destruction of DUMBs, and a few other things are causing readings at this depth.

Somewhere (around here?) I saw someone who claimed to know a bit about such things as seismic readings explaining that there have been a lot of recent events recorded at a depth of 5.5. According to this person, 5.5 really just means something akin to "deep and not known" and is assigned as "maximum depth". Supposedly it used to be documented as 10km so to prove that there has not been a recent change to events occuring at that depth, just the way its documented, one could search past records and find many events designated as 10 in the past. (I have not actually attempted to dig into those "old" seismic records.)

There are two parts to the ham radio code

Readability goes from 1 to 5

Signal strength is from 1 to 9

So 5 .5 is perfectly readable with fairly good signal strength

5 . 9 is perfectly readable with the extremely strong signal.
