From what I understand, the aggregate sites add the underlines and when you hover over them (as MNlurker said in post #1,337), you get the definitions. The aggregate sites also add the definitions, correct or not.
When I do < pre > for that line with the dots after it, to make the text show up exactly as written, it looks like this:

So it breaks down to two sets of ellipses and two separate, regular periods. The ellipses dots are small because it's squishing three periods into one space, while the separate periods are large, taking up only one space each.
What it means, if anything, I don't have a clue!

Seen any commentary on the trailing periods? "Everything has meaning." Sometimes there is 8 as in

.."
and sometimes there are other trailing values like 9 as in
VJ.
