A 61-year-old Louisville, Ky., man was sentenced Friday to life in federal prison for transporting dozens of illegal immigrants in a scorching hot tractor-trailer, after which 10 people were found dead inside the truck last July, according to the Justice Department.

U.S. District Judge David A. Ezra of San Antonio sentenced James Matthew Bradley, Jr. to life in prison without parole, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Friday afternoon. Bradley had faced the death penalty.

Shortly after midnight on July 23, San Antonio police responded to a call from the Walmart on Interstate 35 and found the tractor-trailer behind the store. Police found Bradley asleep in the cab and 39 illegal immigrants in a trailer that did not have a working air conditioning unit.

Of the 39 people found in the truck, eight were found deceased and two later died from injuries sustained from being in the overheated trailer for a prolonged period. About 20 people were in serious condition and eight others who were diagnosed at the scene with heat stroke and dehydration were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

Well yes....but our "softy" representatives for years now do not support such measures....they can't 'discern' the difference between killing and murder....idiots they are!

I just don’t buy they have it any worse than the rest of the unwed others etc. in their countries.....they get a free ride here.

I've traveled pretty extensively in the Third World.I've seen poverty...*real* poverty...in such countries as India,Thailand,Kenya,Tanzania and Brazil (among others).

Long story short...there are two billion plus genuinely disadvantaged people on earth.Moving any substantial percentage of them to prosperous nations in North America,Europe and elsewhere would only damage those prosperous nations.

I could support wisely targeted foreign aid to the nations I've mentioned.Of course it *must* be insured that such aid doesn't wind up in the pockets of crooked politicians,or their pals....a class of individual that's in no short supply in the Third World (including in countries due south of the Rio Grande)/

There will always be poorer nations, as you mentioned in your response...but I consider Africa where decades and decades of foreign aid has done little but create a dependent Continent.... There leadership corruption does not change and those leaders are always at International Funding Events with their hands out..that never gets to the people!

When you get in a hot truck in the desert.. you know your chances of survival are being calculated.

I was under the belief that Mexico wants to keep illegals out so more of their own can get in here to send money back. In any event it’s a sad commentary on how little Latin American countries feel towards their lower classes.

Yup. They use them as a kind of export capital to pull money out of our economy back to theirs.

That’s my point. As I’ve said here many times, if Mexicans put half the energy into fixing their country that they do into destroying ours than maybe someday Mexico would be a place Mexicans don’t have to run away from.

well I see it as wishful thinking because they’ve certainly had years to do just that and haven’t to date...Which is why my skin crawls when people here brag what hard workers they are.....the only thing they work hard at is sending their money back to mexico after they’ve raped this country.
