I recall that after about '67 the whole topic of the CIA just seemed to evaporate out of any of our bull sessions in the coffee mess. Nobody said anything bad about 'em, but so many people just avoided mentioning even the name of the agency it just got spooky.
Nothing but a feeling then, but it persisted right up until now (I even hear "CIA" and I get tense)

I remember hearing of them once around the middle of the 60’s. A friend I knew while he was in the service said he was approached by the CIA. They wanted to know if he knew anyone buying or selling drugs. And was he interesting in working for them. He told them no on both accounts.
