Britain fights back: Moment knifeman is thrown in air after being tackled by pedestrians

A KNIFE-WIELDING attacker was tackled by brave members of the public, who apprehended him when he attempted to speed off from the scene of a fight in Cardiff on a getaway bicycle.

Dramatic footage shows the desperate criminal attempting to escape after a fight broke outside a hotel in the Welsh capital.

But a brave member of the public tackled him off of his bike as he attempted to flee police during a chase through the city centre.

The video footage, captured on Saturday (15 April) by a bystander, shows suspect Muaz Tarafdar, 20, being smashed into the ground as he attempted to speed off.

In the video, the man cycles towards a set of traffic lights before a man in a blue hooded jumper tackles him to the ground.

However, the bumbling assailant attempted to get up off the ground, before ANOTHER bystander, who was crossing the road, grounds him once again.

Tarafdar was found with a large knife in his backpack after he was arrested at the scene, reports Wales Online.

The details of the altercation, or the exact location of the fight, have not been disclosed. Express.co.uk has contacted South Wales police for comment.

Following the incident, Tarafdar of No Fixed Abode, was jailed for six months on Monday, after admitting to possessing a dangerous weapon.

Representing him in court, Nia James told how Tarafdar had a "£10 a day crack cocaine habit" and had "significant difficulty with cannabis".

Upon sentencing, Judge Bodfan Jenkins told Tarafdar:“You had in your possession a particularly, if not highly, dangerous weapon in very dangerous circumstances."

Continuing, the judge said: “In the circumstances of the case this clearly crosses the custody threshold. There can be no reason for suspending the sentence.

Well it took them awhile to release Tony Martin but hey, they didn’t bring any charges against the 78 year old guy who stabbed and killed that burglar. Maybe folks are coming to their senses.

If you read about the Tony Martin case it sounds like something out of the onion or babylon bee.

Run hide and tell. It sounds like something you tell your toddler.

The 0:09 puncher had more risk and physical involvement, I grant that.

The last fellow used good physics and did not present a threatening body mass as the perp approached.

Ain't that the truth. But wait, it gets worse. Awhile back I was reading about self-defense in Britain. The only legal item a person can carry is a whistle. Even pepper spray is not allowed.

I guess you could carry an umbrella without attracting too much attention. But if you use it to defend yourself, you'd better have an attorney on retainer. After all, you might bruise some poor Islamist's wrist.

That’s what I was thinking. He set himself up for the hit and timed it perfectly. Well done!

Another good Irish name besmirched by one bad apple.

"...Tarafdar had a "£10 a day crack cocaine habit"...

That's not a habit; it's a mild interest!
