Except as the occasional guest host. Don’t know why he gave it up. There were some hints that he was getting threats, but I’m sure that’s conspiracy theory stuff.
I remember Art explaining his reasons for retiring from Coast to Coast, when it happened. The details are fuzzy now, but he said on the air, that there were serious threats to his family involved.
Initially, he tried to handle the situation by moving from Pahrump to Manila, where he continued to broadcast for a while.
Apparently that didn't satisfy his alleged enemies, and the pressure against him and his family continued.
I seem to recall him taking an extended leave from the show, and at some point, he wound up back in Pahrump, broadcasting from his residence again.
From what I remember, it wasn't long after that, when he finally turned the show over to Noory.
All in all, it was a bizarre and confusing series of events, and I don't know whether Art ever revealed all of the details.
