Tonya Harding is trading ice skates for dancing shoes — and many Dancing with the Stars fans aren’t too happy about it.
On Friday morning, ABC revealed the 10 former athletes who will compete on the Athletes edition of the reality dance competition series, premiering April 30.
After audiences learned that 47-year-old Harding, a former professional ice skater, was signed on to compete with pro dancer Sasha Farber on season 26, they took to Twitter to express their thoughts — many of which were not in favor of the controversial Olympian.

“This might be the fist time since DWTS has been on that i refuse to watch. I will never watch anything that promotes Tonya Harding…and I’m really bummed because i like so many of the other athletes that will be in this season,” tweeted another.
“Instead of the show being called called #DWTS, it should be called ‘Dancing with the criminals.’ They choose Tonya Harding for the lineup,” tweeted another. “Who’s next? O.J? Lol.”

I’d rather watch Harding dance vs. that fake fraud horsefaced Nancy Kerrigan dance. Harding was hated from day one since she didn’t fit the Olympic committee’s vision of what “ice princesses” should look like. They didn’t want no stinking trailer trash on their ice :-).
And, no, the silly movie that came out about her recently had nothing to do with my feelings about that fake Kerrigan. I couldn’t stand her the minute she opened her mouth after she was assaulted. If roles were reversed, they would have given Kerrigan the gold for clubbing Harding in the knee.
I was a big fan of World’s Dumbest and I like Tonya. She’s a meathead, but has a dopey charm about her.
that is exactly what I thought, Tonya is her own person and is not a mindless liberal robot...
Better be fast. This is only a four week series with a double elimination each week.

the ratings are gonna be huuuuuge! ABC cant afford to off her in the first week double eliminations, you know Kareem and Johnny Damon are done for sure

Easy. She’s a redneck. It’s as simple as that. It’s why liberals hate her. Moreover, she was an overachiever back in her day and stood to upstage all of the pampered princesses she was competing against. That also enrages liberals.
She’s certainly guilty of conspiring with those dolt friends of her’s that assaulted Nancy Kerrigan, but Kerrigan is so damn fake that I can’t have much sympathy for her beyond Nancy being a victim of cheaters.
I don’t even like ice skating :-) ... I was 21 when this happened and remember feeling some sympathy for Harding at the time since she reminded me of someone I’d actually hang out with (this was before it became clear that she was in on harming Kerrigan). Kerrigan immediately struck me as a fake.
I could not imagine watching this show but why would anyone be happy seeing Tonya Harding anywhere?
agree - and wasn’t it tonya’s estranged ex-husband that took the clubbing job? I don’t think Tonya was even in on it.
I love the fact that Tonya took up boxing and female MMA later on in life, a perfect career for her..
Yeah. It's got nothing to do with the fact that her posse assaulted her competitor with a crowbar. Or that she's stupid, ugly, and illiterate. Nope. She's just a victim of our prejudices.
