Yes, I think it is real important to reason it out for them selves. The nice thing about the Coast Guard, is you get college along with the training.
She’ll learn how to break down and clean the guns for example. They train them to use those small sail boats. Then the have big old fashioned style sailing ships where they sail as a team.
They feel it’s important to learn real sailing before moving on to the motor powered boats. IIRC, they’ll give her a car when she graduates, and she would be a commissioned officer.
If she gets the scholarship-it’s a full ride-no student loans. If she hates it, they’ll let her off the hook the first year with no problem.
My daughters had an interest, and that’s what we thought Air force or Coast Guard academy.
