Cindy McCain, wife of U.S. Sen. John McCain and an outspoken advocate against human trafficking, called Friday’s seizure of Backpage.com by federal authorities and the charges against the website’s co-founder a “good day” in the fight against sex trafficking.
McCain said she and other anti-trafficking advocates had tried to work with the operators of Backpage, the classified-advertising website, to change its methods and stop posting ads that she believed led to women being sold for sex.
