LONDON (AP) — In Paris, the Eiffel Tower went dark. In London, a kaleidoscope of famous sites switched off their lights — Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, the London Eye.

~~SNIP~~

It lasted for just an hour and its power is purely symbolic. But in countries around the world, at 8:30 p.m., people were switching off their lights for Earth Hour, a global call for international unity on the importance of addressing climate change.

Oh the irony. Power outages will be common if the Leftists have their way with global warming.

Back in far more sane times, California honored Nikola Tesla by naming an entire town for him! It was a coal mining town in eastern Alameda County, California, 12 miles southeast of Livermore, CA on Tesla Road. Founded in 1890 by John Treadwell, the Tesla coal mines were the largest coal producer in California for nearly a decade starting in 1897.

Modern California names uber-expesive electric car playthings for the rich after the same man.

Here's to COAL and Nikola Tesla -- the mineral and man who made all modern life possible.

Is someone going to nuke me from orbit if I don’t turn off my lights?

Piower outages will be common if the Leftists have their way with global warming.

Never thought of that. Way more than I remember growing up. Seem to be more frequent and last longer.

Snowing up here in the Idaho Panhandle today.

Further north than me but seem to cover a lot of the midwest. It must be beautiful there. It's not every year, but we have had late snows many years, usually not this late in March though. Might help with recharging the ground for growing season only we don't need flooded fields or otherwise.

You didn’t miss it. It’s at 8:30 pm your time tonight. I’ll turn the porch light on to remind you.

Xerxes had the waters of the Hellespont whipped after a storm destroyed the bridges of his invasion army into Greece.

That’ll teach the climate!

Spectacular day up here today. We've had it all. Dark brooding clouds, rain cloudbursts, blizzard, graupel, sunshine, blue skies, downbursts, calm, high winds. Just a normal day!

Now we have to have commie/hippie hour, at totally different time from that commie/hippie/pagan “Earth Day”?

Oooo, this is what my neighbors do. So I will turn on all the lights in protest. Didn’t know it was now.

Thanks for the reminder. I had to change the bulb out front so I can turn all my lights on at 8:30.

My neighbor, who won’t talk to us anymore since we got disgusted with their neurotic little dogs auto-barking at us for hours on end, and who also wear shirts that say “Homeland security”/”fighting terrorism since 1492”.
