Maybe today wasn’t a loss..MAYBE a great negotiating move by our President...$700 Billion is needed most now. Maybe some for GITMO -LOL I can wish.
Most complex events are a mixed bag, and an omnibus spending package is complex.
When it comes to spending and keeping the government open, Congress is in the drivers' seat.
I count it as a net loss, but hey, losses happen. I'd just prefer the taint be attached to Congress, Ryan and McConnell in particular.

Gitmo already got $500 Million upgrade. Building additional barracks for guards, NG MP activated and moved already. Both Mattis and Sessions went down last year to look it over.
They are also building a hospital there.

I don’t think POTUS was happy with the bill, but perhaps they need the military budget right now to prepare for NK/IRAN.
I figure they have information we don’t have. With the recent WH changes, I think he is needing to gear up. Time will tell if this was wise and or necessary.
I would rather the troops have what they need instead of me deciding what timing I’d be happy with for the wall (now). I’m more bothered that Congress seems more willing to muck things up than do what is most important for all. IMHO
