It is everwhere. How long should it take to build a 2-story parking garage in an existing parking lot at the naval academy?

“Put in a few rope ladders and the students can still use it. Road travel is right out. I imagine the companies’ insurers need a change of underwear about now.”

They’d be better off letting Amazon indians build the thing instead of democrats. At least their rope bridge wouldn’t collapse. Hell there are still bridges standing from the Roman Empire. Democrats would F up a train wreck.

“”More jobs will be created in our community thanks to this grant, and I look forward to celebrating the project’s success with everyone in South Florida.”

Well Debs, there are a half dozen or so families that are not celebrating the project’s success.

How many more “shovel ready stimulus” projects out there waiting to collapse? That’s what happens when a community agitator tries to build things.

Just another part of the “Deep State” corruption.

How much of that money was skimmed off to the state politicians, school administrators and company management?

Never attribute to malice what can be more easily attributed to incompetence.

The cause of the collapse could be as simple as the supporting structures beneath the span, being removed by someone who thought it would allow for better vehicular traffic under the bridge.

The support structures under the span should not have been removed until the support cables were in place.

Same reason houses in Florida usually don’t have basements, water table is too high. This and the high average rainfall means the tunnel would be flooded pretty regularly.

In addition, tunnels are a great place for goblins to prey on college co-eds, especially at night.

The design was supposed to be bridge supported by hanging on cables from the central support. Idiets put up one half of the bridge, made of concrete, made to hang, but not supported over the span. It collapsed under own weight.

The first, longer concrete span was placed, but it collapsed while strain testing one of the cable anchor points with a crane. It isn't clear yet, but either the anchor point or the crane's cable failed, causing the collapse. Question is, why were the anchor points tested after the span was in place and not before? To save a few days? And second, why was the roadway open during testing? Seems to me the road should have been closed until the tower and cables were installed.

Absolutely no reason for American taxpayers to be paying for a footbridge for a college.

Besides the politics and technical engineering aspects of this horror, the question does simply arise on the false necessity of the bridge in the first place. Crosswalks with lights were not good enough to get people across the road. I am aware that the bridge was the answer to a fatality due to crossing. The answer by government was deadlier as is usually the case. So what do the geniuses do now? Does the bridge get rebuilt?
