You are, of course correct. 1/3 </> to 0.3333...
1/3 is a fraction (portion) of a whole, the ratio being 1:3 and 2:3 (one-of-three and two-of-three), making a whole three-of-three).
I think I learned ratio in 3rd grade (or was that 0.333333333 grade?)
I understand fractions very well - they are a ratio. Divide 1 by 3 you get .33333.... to infinity it never ends. Same with 2 by 3. add the decimals and you get .999... to infinity.
It’s a mathematical idiosyncrasy - a thought problem that makes perfect logical sense but shouldn’t be. Yet a provable fact using basic mathematics.
