Thanks for posting.
ME: If you say with me I will cook you mushroom raviolis every Friday night...
WIFE: How about that, plus...
And so on.
I got about two lines in, and realized there was no way I could be humorous about that negotiation to make some kind of semi-funny dialogue. Too close to home. It almost became painful to write.
It almost became too easy to visualize myself debasing myself in grief to buy some further allotment of time with the one I love. I might say or do anything.
Which is why I wrote what you quoted..."Alas".
Very sorry on the loss of your pet. It hurts just as bad as when we lose a beloved human friend or family member.
“The gate to heaven has a doggie Door.”
That’s a keeper.
So sorry for your loss.
We had to put down an old friend last year; we thought then that it would be a long time before we got another dog - who wants to sign-up for more pain like that?
Well, our youngest son finally wore us down a few weeks ago, and we found a puppy needing a new home - a little boxer mix. And she is very sweet & loving...
Thank you for posting your heart-warming story and comments. So sorry for your loss... and may Molly rest in peace.
Molly is in our hearts.
I appreciate your feelings completely.

Yes sir....... let them teach!
I had it happen to me twice. Lost two cats long before their time.
SO sorry for your loss.
I truly hope God has carved out a small portion of heaven for our pets.
Im a dog lover too. I wish they could live as long as we do.
But at least Molly departed in the comfort of her home, alongside her cherished masters. Im sure that you are thankful for that!
Pumpkin, my previous dog, could barely walk before she passed. In the last days, I had to pick her up to take her outside. But she did her duty! She was 14.
I had to take her to the vet to say goodbye. I guess I waited too long, I dont know.
But Molly and Pumpkin are in heaven now - bottomless food bowls, new friends who are real saints, and playing fetch with God.
And theyre waiting for us to join them when our time comes.
God bless you for providing a loving home for Molly.
My mother had a little dog named Molly when she was young. She told us stories about Molly. Your post brought back memories.

Ain’t nothing better than a Free Republic sympathy thread to remind us of the great value of life. People’s stories are amazing.

I’m so sorry. You were blessed to have her and she, you.
