Last night’s ceremony drew a 18.9 Live+Same Day rating in the metered market households. That was off 16% from last year’s 22.4 rating, which was a nine-year low. The 18.9 appears to be an all-time low for the Oscars, below the previous low ratings point for the Oscars, logged with the 2008 telecast (21.9), hosted by Jon Stewart, when No Country For Old Men won Best Picture.

While we’re producing cultural garbage the Chinese and Koreans are producing hit shows.

Hollywood thinks a movie thinks a movie glorifying interspecies sex is what America is all about.

I feel ashamed and embarrassed at my country. Liberals dominate the culture and they can’t show America in a good light.

And they wonder why Americans tune out the Oscars in droves. Go figure.

Ya know folks, ya gotta question the leadership of the Academy Awards leadership. They must be the dumbest folks in the universe or, maybe they are all stoned on reefer, drugs or alcohol.

Jimmy Kimmel...ya gotta be kidding me...I would not trust that moron to take out our garbage every night, and, now that the TV viewer numbers are surfacing, the Academy better get its entire act in order...or, very soon there will be no more “Oscar Awards Show”. Wise up deadbeat “Hollywood”...Trump has wiped you out. You are already a memory with the overwhelming numbers of Americans, and a very bad one at that.

I don’t ever remember watching them. It’s just like the NFL. . .you don’t miss anything if you don’t tune in.

Actually, no. There wasn’t nearly as much as one would expect. It wasn’t very entertaining, but Weinstein got as much mention as Trump, if not more.

Stupid author thinks 2005 was in the last decade

You might want to rethink that.

“The best that Hollywood’s big night has done in the first round of ratings over the past decade-plus was back in 2005”

The past decade is from 2008 - 2018...... the author’s choice of verbiage and sentence construction failed

Nope. 2000 to 2010 was the last decade. It’s not a rolling thing. That would be ‘the last ten years.’

I watched a little bit of the opening of the olympics. I felt exactly what you are describing.

The Koreans put on a class act. They celebrated their traditions, history, culture. Their women were clothed, modestly. I;d wager you could probably have stayed in the city and gone to the events and not been mugged, raped or murdered too.

I am wrong. You are right.

“The past decade-plus was back in 2005” is the giveaway.
Decade-plus would mean reaching back into the last century, which 2005 certainly does not. The writer bungled it.

They need to clean up their act, Ryan Seacrest, Weinstein etc.

Then they need to stop putting this on TV, just issue the winners in a statement. If they want to have a big ceremony, let them have it but don’t air it, let them preach to the choir.

These kooks don’t seem to understand, we don’t watch Oscars for political speeches.
