A very good actor. His roles in Better Off Dead and Doc Hollywood are fantastic. RIP.
Charles Emerson Winchester, Rest In Peace. Great actor...
Good actor. Liked him in both North and South and Doc Hollywood.
RIP.
MASH: Love the movie, hate the show.
That may be because so many families have been touched by this issue. It’s hard to think straight when a family member is involved.
I know, I have three nephews who admitted to it and two of them, in their early thirties, died. It is so sad to even think about it. Handsome, intelligent...what a waste.
Yes, a waste and a great sorrow too, I am sure.
He was the guy who replaced Frank Burns, correct?
I wasn’t much of a MASH fan. But I’m sorry to hear that he passed away.
The movie had Robert Duval as Frank Burns, if I remember correctly...
I wasn’t a fan of the series, as it seemed a not-too-thinly veiled slap at the Vietnam war, instead of Korea where it was supposed to be set.
“Once I detected the bold and frequent anti-American military theme to the TV show, I never watched it again.”
Thank You! I thought I was the only one who noticed. Of course, back in the seventies nobody seemed to realize the political tone of these show’s, or if they did, dismissed the seriousness of it. Looking back now at shows like MASH, All in the Family, even mild shows like Barney Miller, I now clearly see the leftist message being screamed at us. Few others I talk to are aware of it, yet is is so obvious to me now. I suppose that’s what brainwashing is all about. Thank you for your post, at least I’m not alone.
Okay. The man was a very fine actor, and he was gay.
And he’s dead from an awful disease. I am disappointed that the mods have had to zorch so many comments on this thread.
I thought FR had more class than that.
The worst thing about MASH, in my opinion, was not the actors’ behavior outside the tv show, but the characters behavior in the show. Hawkeye is portrayed as a tireless surgeon dedicated to saving lives even through artillery fire. So he is the hero. At the same time he is shown to be a promiscuous womanizer. This is supposed to be okay because he is a hero....someone to be emulated. The womanizing is supposed to be funny and endearing. Ha Ha, boys will be boys!
In God’s eyes, this is a deceptive ploy from Satan. Sex outside of marriage is walking in darkness, leading to broken lives, disease, unwanted pregnancies, fatherless children and ultimately, without repentance, eternal destruction.
It comes on here every afternoon. I had forgotten how funny it was especially with Radar and Henry........lol
I have that episode when he came to visit and Martin saw his sons acted more like Stiers character. It was funny......;)
That was a big problem with the film, it was too anachronistic, and everything clearly looked like it was then-present day Vietnam.
It’s too bad Sally Kellerman didn’t do the role on tv of “Hot Lips.” She was far better than the annoying and insipid Loretta Swit.
“...annoying and insipid Loretta Swit...”
Chuckle... that’s pretty much how I would have said it too... Haha!
There’s at least three of us.
