Maybe. But, it was also kind of a selling point. I think it grew like wildfire because it was what it was in the beginning. They had one central theme. Federal debt and out of control spending and taxation.

It died out the same moment it got organized. State groups called themselves “Tea Party” and began organizing with little presidents and treasurers running around everywhere, and then political characters started making guest appearances, clearly wanting association credits for doing so. You know what I mean.
