> Why limit the testing to current day methodologies? Why cant a course be turned into a sort of video game where as you achieve certain levels, you progress? <
That is an excellent idea. I’ve seen a few math programs that work that way. Solve the equation, and your castle gets stronger. Get the wrong answer and the dragon gets closer.
I don’t know why there aren’t more programs like that. Because most online courses are just boring rehashes of what’s found in the classroom.
Pinging both lists again.
Actually, if they legitimately can't afford it, it's the FIRST reason they give.
It's far easier to admit you can't afford to than that you don't care enough about your kids that you don't want to.
Yes.
Onsite testing facilities, what a great buisness to start.
Im all for that.
There is no reason to assume that present-day time commitments apply when you are dealing with web-based learning. Folks can keep their jobs and use their off time to home school with the internet as an assistant. That is one of the best aspects of this type of approach.
Our public schooling model is a copy of the Prussian model, where conformity of thought, not learning, is the primary objective.
My kids were reading by 3 years old and both could type and google by 5. Classrooms, and especially goobermint indoctrination ones, are an anachronism.
This is not new either.
My high school senior English teacher would say "Claz, da sichiation iz dis....." as she spouted her liberal ideological points.
Online ed is a good thing, but it shouldn’t be the necessary response to the Leftwing assault on the Country.
Never concede an inch of soil — it’s our Country.
We’re in NY, and our district is outstanding.
It’s only relatively outstanding.
Compare to how much their peers in Europe have learned by the same age. The difference, even if you are in the best district in NY, will be mind-blowing.
I’m more than happy to be blown away, but doubtful the data exists to support your point.
Actually it is the PERFECT response to the left’s control of our education process. It removes THEM as the deliverers of education and maximizes the freedom to learn as one chooses to learn at their own pace and in the safety of their own chosen environment. All of this at an incredible cost savings to the taxpayer. It once again makes the well being and education of children the top and only priority rather than how it is now where the jobs and salaries of administrators and teachers is what drives the engine. They have had total control of things for the past sixty years and the results have been horrible every way you look at it. Time to fire them all and change how we approach this. Arguing about gun control is not the answer and we do not have to let them decide what the topic of debate is. I would rather talk about how and and when we can transition into the internet age as it applies to teaching our children. Make THEM discuss what WE want to talk about.
K12 is free in most states, and the school taxes are redirected to them. Additionally there are several other free education sites out there. After some bullying issues at the local pubic school we pulled our kids out and went to online education. HSLDA is another great resource for homeschooling as well.
