It was definitely after 1975, at least in existing stores.

Brands varied, but Lucky’s were distinctive. I think the idea was could trade for different brands, the distribution probably matched preferences, and non-smokers could trade them for food items. I never saw anyone sell them.

Early 80’s in Grand Forks we still had C-Rats in the launcher control building, a huge pallet of them. No cigarettes though but I took a hankering to the canned fruit.

I was on Crew at El Forko Grande from 1985-1989. I remember when our FM at C-0 would come downstairs and inspect the rations and the radition detectors we had stored there. The dates on the C-Rats were pretty new (for C-Rats, that is). I remember back in the late 70s SAC had the 60 day supply out on my Titan II complexes changed out. The huge stack of old ones were dated around the Korean War and had cigarettes. The new ones didn't. I expect that SAC had all the Minuteman sites changed out at the same time.

We had a “secret” military installation under our gym in college. It’s not open to the public but you can still see traces of the Cold War. It even had a commissary which was strange considering they could just walk to the cafeteria.
It was hardened against radiation. Double steel doors.

Yea, it’s the vinegar that coats, and burns the lips. I don’t mind the spice but it shouldn’t overwhelm the the mouth. Vinegar promotes that.

Hey, I’m a midwestern country boy. Not a lot of peppers around here. So I learned. I just don’t understand how burning your tastebuds, is flavorful. A meal should be enjoyable and flavorful, not painful or uncomfortable.
