Hard to watch when recreational sports like snowboarding and X games sports like half pipe have announcers speaking in modern jive that most don’t understand.....180 half mctwist with a front side fakie.....
Don’t care to watch Lindsay Vonn considering she skiing for herself apparently.
On Friday they showed about six hours of curling which was brutal.
Just not the same. The downhill was always hard but graceful. Bobsled was country versus country, not sled one versus sled three. Ice skating was, well boring to me, but not used as some platform to promote the individual but the country.
Plus the announcers are overbearing. Like listing non-stop to Moose Johnston.
It started in bits and pieces in the 70’ when I was offended by the bad language, skin and other smut which was being force fed to me by the media and magazines, music, etc.
Bit by bit I have habituated my self to do without all of it. Where is it written that I must permit these philistines to corrupt me or my consciousness just because they CAN.
Well-to the extent that they CAN'T, I have assured myself that they DON'T... I don't buy their tickets, subscriptions, etc. or permit them access to ME or my consciousness in any way I can control!
Even at the doctor's office I WILL NOT bother with those trash publications ... NOPE!
I'M in charge of the inside of my head and it's NOT A GARBAGE CAN in there-thank you very much!!
By NOW- I consume very little of their slop!
Then there's that little prayer.....Thank you God for my non-daring sons and my non-athletic daughter.
As long as athletes insist on insulting their audience and the sports casters insist on screeching with exaggerated theatrical hilarity and ignorance, their product is too boring and annoying to watch.
I got tired of the Olympic hype 30 or 40 years ago. The only reason to watch by the 1980’s was to root for the U.S. against the evil Rooskies. But then the Cold War ended and the Games lost their last glimmer of interest. Basically, I don’t like the over-hyped, once every four years format. Most of the sports can have, and many do have, an annual world championship. There is no reason to elevate one competition every four years to some mythical status. It’s all about attracting television audiences, not the athletes or the sport.
Every anything figure skating or ice dancing gets turned off for the night. Personal profiles, channel change. Personal profiles of athletes who are more about their same-sex issues than their sport, off for the night.
Ever since the NFL anthem kneeling, we have quit watching anything that bashes America or Trump. We started watching horse racing and have really gotten into it. We are horse people anyway, but had not paid much attention to racing.
Well, even before the Opening Ceremony we had someone boycott because he should have been able to carry the flag... then we had the skater who refused to meet with Mike Pence, the skier who already announced she would not go to the White House if she won gold... and just like that, we decided we don’t want or need anymore snowflake drama in our lives. And it doesn’t hurt that we can’t stand NBC...in that regard we’re happy not to give them any ratings support.
The only way to watch is to DVR and fast forward commercials or watch online.
Actually, using the NBC Sports app on Apple TV, you can watch whatever sport you like in its entirety whenever you want and don’t have to put up with the human interest garbage and frequent sport-switching on the network broadcast. It’s a big improvement - if you like watching other countries win medals. :)
As soon as Johnny Weird appears on the screen, my wife changes channels. I don’t watch it anyway. Don’t need to see a sodomite prancing around acting like a total ass, and to have him on the screen with children possibly watching is an absolute outrage.
You have that very beautiful Tara Lupinsky standing next to that raging faggot, and my stomach turns. What in the hell is NBC thinking?
1. too many US participants, all left wing commies, standing in front of cameras saying they hate half the country
2. US Olympic Committee is more obsessed with having fewer whites on the team just because they hate whitey, even if it means poorer results
3. Too many US participants focused on telling us all about their various sexual deviances
4. There are vast numbers of events where the US has either no or token participation - all of the biathlon and cross country events come to mind.
5. What few metal contenders we have, appear to think they just need to show up to get their metal. Either that, or they really were not that good to begin with and NBC just over hyped them.
Tried to watch some luge, snowboarding, and the Super G ski event. It became clear that this was more about the SJW agenda. I could care less what the sexuality is of a downhill skier, or Lindsay Vonn’s backstory.
I hope NBC’s ratings take a big hit. Maybe the US Olympic committee will learn a lesson going into the 2020 Summer games, but I doubt it.
Don’t care who can slide down the hill the fastest.
Don’t care who can skate in circles with the fewest butt-plants.
Don’t care about homos, trannies, or any other “historic” participant.
Don’t want to listen to leftist drivel recast as sports commentary.
Not watching the Olympics.
......And I’m going to projectile vomit if I have to watch one more ad for “Mama Mia 2”, starring that vile sanctmonious hag, Meryl Streep.
When Lindsey Vonn, one of the biggest names at the games, makes it political by insulting the President of the United States, I lose interest in watching. When a spoiled brat publicly pouts over not getting to carry our flag, which he thinks he’s entitled to do because he’s “diverse”, I lose interest in watching. When a pervert shares a gay kiss as part of the broadcast, I lose interest in watching.
So far, I have watched none of this year’s Olympics, not live, not steaming, not in any manner. I’m comfortable with that. When they make it about athletics, perhaps I’ll return.
