Not according to former Kennedy sycophant Seymour Hersh. Hersh was a liberal and if you want a conservative source I give you Victor Lasky. Kennedy threw his fellow Catholic under the bus due to mob-like reasoning. Diem would not kowtow.
Deim’s position was NOT “untenable”. The subsequent situation was a mess.
