Russian hoaxers ‘hijacked’ Mizzou protests to inflame racial tensions, says military researcher

Twelve months before the U.S. presidential election, U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Jarred Prier got a taste of Russia’s covert efforts in American political affairs without recognizing the flavor.

It was November 11, 2015. Prier was in Washington browsing Twitter for news about his alma mater, the University of Missouri, where racial protesters had just succeeded in ousting the university system’s president.

#PrayForMizzou was trending. Backlash against the protesters had escalated fears of violence on campus. Intrigued, Prier began pouring over tweets supportive of Mizzou protesters.

Activists on the ground were sharing minute-by-minute updates of campus, where encamped protesters had claimed the university’s quad as their headquarters.

Still other Twitter users, veiled by pseudonyms, claimed Mizzou’s campus was in the midst of a violent street war.

“The cops are marching with the KKK!” wrote @FanFan1911. “They beat up my little brother! Watch out!” The tweet included a photo of bruised black child, ostensibly the Twitter user’s younger brother.

Like many other alarmist Mizzou-related tweets that day, it appeared to have been widely shared.

The only problem, Prier quickly determined: The photo had been lifted from 2013 news reports of alleged police brutality in Ohio.

He suspected the heightened notice the tweet drew was no accident. In addition to well-meaning users who shared it, the tweet had beIn an act of one-off online vigilantism, Prier fired back at @FanFan1911: “[S]top spreading lies.”

It didn’t work.

Mizzou was not embroiled in chaotic street-by-street fighting, but these outwardly authentic social media hoaxes scored an apparent win: goading Mizzou’s student body president into tweeting that the Ku Klux Klan was on campus.en boosted by dozens of apparently fake accounts.

The alleged Russian and Islamic State-sponsored psychological operations that targeted social media users in the U.S., including those related to Mizzou protests, are detailed by Prier in Strategic

America’s left and society have piled up a giant stack of gasoline-soaked wood and oily rags in our own front yard.

We get upset when Russians walk by smoking cigarettes.

Let’s say, to be (way too) magnanimous - there was funding for those professors for ‘social justice’ or ‘racial equality protests’ that juiced the whole thing up. Marxist aim of creating chaos, causing class and racial divisions, bringing down universities. Quite effective it was. Doesn’t have to come with Soros’s name on it; I bet money from him goes to all kinds of Orwellian-named groups.

All you need is naive students that have been brainwashed, and we surely have those a-plenty.

I would be more inclined to believe agent provocateurs associated with the protest put out inflammatory tweets than Russians. Now that the Russian scapegoat is fully engaged, all past sins by the left can be covered by simply saying “Russia.” What’s more, that doesn’t prevent those same agent provocateurs from doing same in the future.

Nobody “hijacked” Payton Head.

He made up all those lies all by himself.

A pickup truck full of rednecks calling him the N-word.

Working with the Hiway patrol because the KKK was seen on campus.

Unless Ms. Head is a Russian agent, which is a distinct possibility.

I would have been surprised had the Russians NOT tried to stir something up. They do it to us. We do it to them.

So much for Hillary's laughably naive Reset Button.

Most people assume that Charlottesville was mostly all Soros-funded. Because of confusion factors there, I would suggest at least a second major group existed, and had no connection to Soros. It would be amusing if someone dug into the various groups and came to a mystery group which led back to the Russians.

After you attain a certain age, it is surprising to me that people are surprised and shocked by this. It’s call Psy-Ops and has been a tactic used by states and factions within states for centuries. Our military and civilian intelligence agencies have units dedicated to this and have been doing it since their inceptions. Yawn.

People who have no garbage from contemporary academia in their heads know that the incident was one of several that will allow progress towards solutions. Administrators and globalist alumni have been turning universities to the radical social left for several decades. Give them the campus demographics that they’ve been pushing for.

Parents, remember that many rapes and abductions have been committed around universities in recent years. Many students have been killed.

Da' RUSSIANS!

(Or maybe just George Soros. But the Russians, like the salad dressing, does make a nice cover.)

Doesn’t the CIA foment unrest? What happened in Syria? What happened in Libya? What happened in Ukraine? This is the sort of stuff the US government does all the time overseas....and also at home in America. Was it Russians? Or was it CIA.FBI.NSA.FedAlphabetAgency pretending to be Russians? Which is more likely?
