Star Trek: Discovery isn’t canon Trek. It’s actually very badly written fiction composed by Cadet Feisenstein aboard the Enterprise NCC-1701 and stored on the ship’s server. Centuries later scholars discover it and assume it to be REAL history along with Captain Kirk’s joke log entries (”Spock’s Brain” etc.)
I lost all urge to watch it when they revealed the main character as Spock’s adopted sister.
I thought Mary Sues were supposed to be limited to the realm of bad fanfiction.
No doubt.
It took them 50 years to completely wreck Star Trek, and CBS expects me to pay them for it?
I had read somewhere the JJ Feild (Major John Andre in “TURN”) was going to play a starship commander in Star Trek. I wonder what became of that idea. I might have watched the extended series for once.
Watched first episode and didn’t watch it again
I love science fiction and stopped watching Dr. Who when the married lizard lesbian had to save the world by kissing her wife for over a minute. (True story)
I have never watched a Star Trek Diversity, I mean discovery. I’ve also never watched “Shaft” or “Blackula.”
I couldn’t make it through the first episode.
Shaft is a low budget movie. But still worth a see.
Superfly was a better flick, imo.
It is extremely boring.
And one of the best soundtracks, ever.
Trek has gotten away from hiring the best actors and actresses.
It now seems they hire based on racial quota’s.
I gave up on Dr. WHO, in the late 1970’s. Give me Patrick Troughton or William Hartnell, any day.
Agreed. I watched the first episode and that was the end of it for me. The show felt like a Potemkin play put on by a bunch of LBQTMFWIC’ers. What a horror.
“Shaft Goes to Africa,”.... decades before Black Panther.
At the video store-—
“I’d like to rent a subdued black movie, please.”
“How about Shaft?”
“Shaft is subdued?”
“Well, it has a second banana, you know, a sub-dude.”
Serialized or arc sci-fi. Two great series come to mind. Babylon 5 and the rebooted Battlestart Galactica (2004-2009)
What’s wrong with Tom Baker? He is my favorite doctor.
I didn’t last five minutes into that first episode.
Pure garbage.
Never went back.
There, fixed it.
