As he prepares to reenter the Star Wars universe with his upcoming (and still-untitled) Episode IX, Force Awakens filmmaker J.J. Abrams is unbothered by the recent backlash to the diversity of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Asked by IndieWire about pushback from Star Wars fans who decried Rian Johnsons film for its focus on more female-centric stories (bolstered by the edition of franchise newbies like Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran), Abrams was clear: Their problem isnt Star Wars, their problem is being threatened.
In December, an alt-right group claimed responsibility for lowering the films Rotten Tomatoes scores, claiming that its issues with the film partially stemmed from introducing more female characters into the franchises universe. As The Telegraph noted at the time, user reviews included comments like Politically correct to the point of boredom, SJW propaganda and Im frustrated that feminism and diversity have made their way into this film. This has ruined Star Wars for me as well as my kids. Keep liberalism out of it and stop ruining once good things.

Doesn't sound "unbothered" to me.
The Hunger Games got great reviews.
Another business/marketing genius antagonizing the customers.
Producers of both Star Wars and Star Trek hate the true fans, thinking they can get a bigger audience by betraying them. I’ve had it with them, and will not be watching any more Star Wars. They’ve all been a waste of time.
Not smart to call your fans ugly little names.
They don’t have to like your latest social experiment.
Sometimes the changes just don’t take.
Ask Marvel Comics about how that can go.
Changing the sex or race of an established Super Hero was dumb.
They’re slowly replacing White Males and when you notice they insult you and expect you to Bend Over
Well that will get me to watch it.
Domestic Total Gross: $412,563,408
Yeah, afraid of women
Can’t be because of the asisnine plot, the bad acting, the characters that have the depth of toilet paper, with no development, nonsensical motivations. The mary sue main character with no back story with no struggles, growth, or conflict resolution that just can do everything out of the box better than anybody who sacrificed decades of their lives to training and accumulated knowledge and experience through trials and mistakes that did not always have pleasant outcomes. The ridiculous muppets whos only purpose is to flood the toy market who we are somehow susposed to suspend disbelief that a body without opposable thumbs somehow developed a space faring technology. Nope, just afraid of chicks
The Social Justice Warriors get lost in their personal crusades to reorient the world to their vision and then are indignant when the movies aren't as successful as they hoped that they would be.
Sorry: you have to pick whether you want a propaganda movie for the masses or to make money. You can't have both.
Well JJ, I suppose you could be right. Shouldn’t you give your customers what they want? If you don’t want to do that then stop bellyaching about it. You made the movie you and your PC pals wanted so don’t now complain that anyone outside of your PC safe space won’t go along with your anti-social dreck.
Fertilizer I get for free from my dog, I don't need to pay for it.
Douchebagimus Maximus.
The HFO pretty much nails it.

A writer should be good enough to recognize a poor story and script.
Someone without a science background would of course missed critical story flaws which turn a 3 hr movie into a 30min one.
Well, you know, you can afford to crap on China. I mean, nobody lives there.
Anyway, they need to get with the program and be all high-minded and wonderful like JJ.
Whoops, sorry, the first link was the wrong one!!
How embarrassing. Looking for the correct link.
JJ thinks people should go to the movies not as entertainment but as an exercise in social justice.
Isn’t that special?
