If a three year old is required to pay for a ticket then he is eligible to be charged with creating a disturbance just like any other paying passenger.

Friend of mine has a niece with a daughter who once stood over her mother with a knife in the middle of the night..Mom woke up and daughter said ,I could have killed you just now...

Mom is the problem in that household..She has learned to say no to everybody BUT her daughter...I told my friend her niece is raising a psycho that society will have to put down....

How old is your son?? Are there schools or camps he can go to learn different behavior?? I’m sorry for your troubles...I’ve seen the damage a child like that can do to a family...

Won’t work if you are next to or close to the brat.

I flew Virgin Atlantic from London to Wash DC. . .the day airspace opened from that volcano nonsense a few years back. First available flight was premium economy. I usually fly business but the company I was consulting for didn’t buy that class of travel.

Regardless, just after take-off a screeching brat erupted. The brat was let “free” to run around the cabin with father chasing after the spawn from hell, saying “Now Amanda, we don’t do that. . .” and “Amanda, please stop that. . “ etc.

The mother put on her headset and ignored the son and daughter brats screaming at each other and the father was a ball-less wonder pleading with brats that were about 3 to 5 yrs old.

Amanda was running up and down the aisle and stopped next to a elderly gentleman and he was reading, ignoring her. She did a little dance. No response. She made a face, no response. She then SREECHED as loud as she could, causing the gentleman to nearly drop his book (I thought he had a heart attack). Darn neared caused me to have a heart attack. . .along with everyone else. The brat laughed and took off running with the father following saying in a calm conversational voice, “Now Amanda, that wasn’t nice.”

I and many others spoke to the stewardess and she offered 10,000 miles be added to our accounts. I don’t fly Virgin, it was the company that bought that ticket. I declined the offer.

Many of us asked to be moved to Business Class because Business had only three people in it and that left about a dozen seats. Stewardess and Purser said “no,” trapping us next to the screeching brat.

I recorded the nearly 8-hrs of non-stop screeching and crying and when back in DC, I contacted Virgin and sent them a copy of the recording and they offered me 5,000 miles.

Good Lord.

I will never fly Virgin again. Never. I’ve also added a clause to my consulting contract that prohibits booking with Virgin, regardless of class. Several other consultants have now done the same after listening to the recording.

So, Virgin lost tens of thousands of dollars because or a screeching brat and their unwillingness to move people to accommodate them during a terrible flight.

This wasn’t the only time in my life where brats took over the jet. Time to make specific flights for business travelers only, no kids.

Business travelers generally and as a rule get on the jet, sit down, shut-up, leave people alone, read or sleep, and then de-plane. No kids.

I’ve had people bring brats into Business and First Class. Terrific, spend over 10K on a business class seat and some brat takes over the cabin.

Should have a dart-gun on-board to take down the brats.

True. . .so the parents should reimburse the cost of the tickets to the suffering other passengers.

“”If it happens it happens. We’ll feel bad if he disrupts the flight, but we’re never going to see any of these people again and they have no idea what we’ve been through...”.”

Interesting perspective.

Regardless of your “events,” what about all the other people? It’s not all about you and there are many others that may be experiencing personal issues as well.

When I'm on a flight about to take off, I look around and think to myself, "If this plane crashes, these are the people I'm going to be stuck with for the rest of eternity."

All the kid was begging for was a spanking.

It says the child had behavioral problems and most times a spanking will do no good. The mother should have taken extra precautions to make sure her son had tools to handle the flight so as not to bother others around them. I feel sad for the boy who most definitely has some internal issues.

Not always the case.

I agree, I am surprised at so many here with the true lack of sympathy for the boy.

What they should do is cancel their return flight.

When my son was a behavioral problem, we didn’t go out. If we couldn’t control him, he stayed home. Eventually, he figured out that he could only go out if he behaved. If he misbehaved, I literally hauled him out and took him home, screaming and all.

The problem is that the child tries to figure out how to control the parents and the parents try to pretend it isn’t happening. It’s a battle that I had to win.

He’s an Accounting major. He’s the school’s problem now.

We had neighbors once whose son did that every time he went outside. It drove me crazy. The parents ignored it. For all I knew he did it inside the house too. Unless a child really has problems, there is absolutely no reason to put up with a child who screams for the fun of it. I raised one child and she was not allowed to scream at all unless she was in trouble or needed help.

If someone’s kid is outside, I don’t care how loud they scream. I can tune that out.

A little whiskey for the baby would have made the baby sleep.
A lot of whiskey for the adults would have made the flight bearable.
