Your questions about NK are good. The main thing I know about NK is that fat boy threatened to nuke US and our allies. Trump did not react passively like the Bush and Obama. And now we see Fat Boy sending his sister and competitors to the Olympics.

Alternative hypothesis - NK was to be the deep-states nuclear arsenal. What better than to be able to hold the world hostage from a shithole country like NK. You loose major population centers and they lose something in NK.
