China's J-20 stealth fighter has entered combat service, the country's armed forces confirmed on Friday, expanding the military's air power options as it presses on with a massive modernisation programme.
People's Liberation Army Air Force spokesman Shen Jinke said the deployment of the J-20 to combat units would "help the air force better shoulder the sacred mission of safeguarding national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity".
Shen said the air force was moving towards a modernised military service that could operate in all fronts, and had become an effective force to control, contain and win a war.

Thanks free traitors, for conning the nation into paying for this.
From the article:
Compared to the USs fifth-generation fighter jets, the J-20 has longer range, more internal fuel capacity and larger internal weapons capability, said Justin Bronk, a research fellow specialising in combat air power at the Royal United Services Institute, in November ...
The J-20s nose and canopy use a stealth shaping design similar to that of the F-22. The J-20 hence rates well in terms of stealth performance on its front, but its sides and axisymmetric engine nozzles risk exposing it to radar, according to a preliminary report by Air Power Australia ...
The price of Chinese self-developed military weapon is normally one-fifth to one-third of the price of a similar US weapon. And the purchase price of a military weapon is 5 per cent bigger than the real cost, said military observer Zhou Chenming ...
The J-20 corresponds to the F-22, he said. The unit cost of F-22 is $ 150 million, according to U.S. Air Forces 2011 budget estimate. Using Zhous formula, this indicates the price of a J-20 would fall between US$30 million and US$50 million per unit ...
The J-20 is the first combat aircraft developed by China that qualifies as state of the art by Western measures. It also shows that China has mastered stealth shaping technology an essential prerequisite for developing stealth aircraft.
Companion to J-20 is a Russian made SU-35 S Flanker E, an F-22 killer.
“entered service” AKA Pre-production model ;-)
An F-22 Killer? That’s a tall order.
China says “thank you, Democrats and American traitors!”
Oh good for them...I mean they 70% copied the OUTSIDE of our F-22. I read one article where it said “They have MASTERED the shape of stealth for flight!” Were it so there would be no external bumps for the flight controls, there would be no forward canards and their would not be the ridiculous tail on this plane....Is it good? I bet it is...is it comparable to our true 5th generation fighters the F-22 and 35? I am more than willing to be it is not. Still if your aircraft is good but your pilot sucks...you have gained an expensive loss.
Hahahaha...well, there are some who do like Soviet and Chinese gear, that’s for sure.
“An F-22 Killer? Thats a tall order.”
Sure, but it does it. Even RAND has stated so. It also does so at 1/3 the cost.
Had it been a shooting contest a 35s would have downed a 22 over Syria a few weeks ago. The F-22 was trying to get a SU-25 to move back to the Russian side by firing flares when its escort came down behind the F-22 - which promptly peeled off and headed for home fastest.
The 35 S is quite capable of taking a 22 down if it sees the 22 first. The other way around not so much because the 22’s BVR missile range would bring it into the 35s radar by quite a lot - and the 35 S’s BVRs are longer range then the 22s.
Quick story about the Chinese: A friend of mine on the forum is in the tooling industry. He went to look at a Chinese plant. He was flabbergasted. It was extremely modern, well organized, just amazing. He asked the plant guide, "How many of these plants do you have?" The guide answered, "About 750".
Remember, the Chinese have more than 5 times our population. If geniuses occur on a standard per-capita basis, they should have 5 times the number of our geniuses.
We’ve only got 146 or so F22s and the 35 is still teething at best. China could keep throwing 15s and other planes into the fray until we run out of the very few missiles those 2 planes carry, and then ...
However reportedly, the Chinese strategy is for the 15s to go after the refulers and AWACs first. Probable leaving it new fleet of SU-35s to take care of the 22s and 15s.
I worked with a Fortune 100 company that engaged hundreds of Chinese tech workers in Wuhan, China. They were about 23-36 years old and extreme intelligent, educated, motivated, and some of the most fun loving capitalists I have ever known. Great people. I thoroughly enjoyed working with them.
Anyone underestimating the Chinese are going to find some day real soon everything your friend and I experienced. These are not slackers, or idiots, or peasants. They are every bit the capable people we Americans once were. We can be again, but not in the liberal PC climate we have today, which the Chinese do NOT have. Slackers in China are fired, not promoted like in America.
Economically scary fact of China: In 1992 they had an 90% poverty rate. Today, they have less than a 5% poverty rate.
That place is NOT sitting still.
Another scary fact: EVERY single computer programmer I met was a computer scientist (BSCS) with an education that included Calculus. In America, we have all but eliminated Calculus from computer science curriculums.
Yeeeeaahhh....no.
I agree.
I worked in Beijing about 30 years ago.
We have a serious competitor on our hands. And those who are building up the country even more with “free trade” are only making it worse.
We have been completely sold out, for the entire last generation.
Doesn’t look like the J-20 uses vector thrusting.
That's sad. It was required in my day, and that wasn't that long ago.
