Most of the "junk" orbiting the earth will return to the earth or burn up in our atmosphere. This seems different, objects to travel elsewhere in the universe, never to return to earth.

Far out! I don't exactly understand it, stays in our solar system but then won't it be like a tiny planet or asteroid in our solar system?
