My director was confirmed but he got a message that when the governor’s term was up 18 months later, he was gone.
Sadly, when i sued the state, the AG was william lockyer who, as a senator, had chaired the senate safety committee I testified before. So his deputy was fighting my lawsuit when he had an obligation to protect me because I testified before his committee in the senate.
Life was strange and lonely at that time. 12 people didn’t come to my wedding because they were told it would be bad for their careers. After 28 years I had no retirement party of recognition. I had some major accomplishments. It took 5 years to get over my anger. But my advisor had warned me about all that and I made my choice.
But now i have no regrets and if it happened again i would do the same thing and maybe in a smarter manner.
