The Cortina already did that.

It’s funny that Mars in no way resembles 1973 Manchester.

Forgive me but I liked the UK series a lot.

Several cameras appear to be mounted to the vehicle, so it’s likely that video of its insertion into what Musk said will be a “billion year elliptical Mars orbit” will be released afterward.

Imagine some alien ship, exploring our solar system 50,000 years from now, coming upon the sight of a red convertible orbiting Mars. A real WTF moment.

Yep, what you said. If it is placed in a good orbit it may be there for a very long time and no doubt will have a WTF moment or two.

I understood That the Falcon Heavy really wasn't going to Mars but into deep space, eventually. I had this vision of aliens finding it centuries from now and saying WTF?

Better check the tires and all the fluids, it's gonna be a long trip.

...

It’s not actually going to Mars, but a transfer orbit from Earth to Mars. The roadster will be in its own orbit around the Sun until somebody goes and gets it.

...

Spaceman appears to be the SpaceX spacesuit that will be worn by astronauts flying on SpaceX rockets.

If this is successful, the free advertising for Tesla and SpaceX will more than make up for the launch cost.

for as much Taxpayer dollars he has got to prop up his electric car business, he should be in the car himself. Without the Gov. money, he would fold like a deck of cards.

Even if all the claimed government subsidies by his adversaries are true, they would only make up about six percent of the market capital of SpaceX and Tesla.

The Tesla Roadster will be found by UFO`s, taken back to Alpha Centuri system, reverse engineered, copied, mass produced and imported back to the USA on 5 mile long alien motherships for sale @$500 bucks apiece.
