Should Pam Bondi be appointed Special Prosecutor?

Posted on 02/04/2018 10:12:28 AM PST by cq

After the Memo Several congressman were interviewed on Fox news. One thing that was stated often was that a Special Prosecutor needs to be appointed and it can not be someone who is in the swamp. Who would you suggest? My first thought was the Attorney General of Florida Pam Bondi.

Someone needs to be appointed to the position of Mueller’s direct supervisor with full power to change or end the witch hunt and change or end Mueller’s employment.

Pam dropped an investigation into Trump U. some years ago. The Rats and the media will scream bloody murder and conflict of interest all day and night. The fact that Mueller is tainted with the smell of $hit from a career in the swamp means nothing to the media, Dems and most Republicans. It will need to be someone else if the useless Sessions ever gets off his a$$and does something.

I thought the DOJ would have to appoint a special prosecutor. That would be Rosenstein, since Sessions is recused from about everything. It isnt going to happen unless Trump can and will fire Rosenstein amidst the threat of impeachment if he does.

Section 4. The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Even if they did that, the senate would have to indict and there are not enough Republicans to do that in the Senate!

The big road block is that Sessions would have to be the one to appoint the Special Prosecutor!
Maybe if he was poked with a stick enough times he might actually do what he should do

The House of Representatives shall chuse their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.
U.S. Const, art. I, sec. 2, cl. 5.

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments.
U.S. Const, art. I, sec. 3, cl. 3.

Judgment in Cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.
U.S. Const, art. I, sec. 3, cl. 7.

As far as a U.S. official goes, the Constitution says the House is the ONLY entity to CHARGE ("impeach") and the Senate is the ONLY entity to TRY and REMOVE.

If it's a federal crime not committed by a current government official , then the (cleaned-up) FBI should do it's normal job of investigating, indicting, etc.

“It isn’t going to happen unless Trump can and will fire Rosenstein amidst the threat of impeachment if he does.”

That’s correct. Unless the charge that Rosenstein threatened Nunes and the others is true then I believe Sessions would have no choice but to fire him. That is what it’s going to take. Sessions recusal does shield him from every damn thing.

Why a special prosecutor? I see nothing in the Constitution to allow for that.

“The House of Representatives shall chuse their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.”
U.S. Const, art. I, sec. 2, cl. 5.

“The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments.”
U.S. Const, art. I, sec. 3, cl. 3.

“Judgment in Cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.”
U.S. Const, art. I, sec. 3, cl. 7.

But we are a nation codified to be ruled by law, not the whims of political advantage.

If we are to recover our Free Constitutional Republic, we MUST re-institute OUR Constitution as written ans originally understood and intended as the Supreme Law of the Land over the feds.

I agree but unfortunately we have way too many people who are getting away with not doing what they should do!
There are more things rolling down the hill, this is just the start!

Well if the USC (United States Code) is not in line with the USC (United States Constitution) then the Constitution trumps the legislated code (U.S. Const, art. VI, Cl. 2).

Even if Sessions woke up in time to appoint an SP, here would be the democrap logic with Sessions appointing the SP. Since Session was nominated by Trump, and Trump is the “alleged spy target” of the “flimsy, non-conspiracy”, Sessions cannot be unbiased in his appointment of a “political hack” SP; therefore if Sessions (wakes up and) appoints anything, our democracy, its institutions and constitution are in crisis.

There is no legal restriction for the recusal. Sessions would have to be the one to make the appointment. As always these republican dweebs are afraid of what the Big Media will say and that is the biggest problem we have in getting anything done, much less heading off the global enslavement which is what is the end game of democrats

Since Trump was relatively new in DC, I would say the worst decision he made was hiring &/or listening to the person who recommended that Rosenstein should be appointed.

Someone should have tossed Machiavelli’s “The Prince” to Trump to read. Still the best power politics manual out there!

She has seemed like a lightweight when I’ve seen her on FOX. They talk over her and she struggles to make her points...not good for a lawyer. Rudy would wipe her out....just presentation wise.

Chris Christie pal Ronald Tenpas promoted RR. Christopher Wray was Christie’s personal lawyer. Trump’s worst decision was not dismissing EVERYONE remotely connected to Christie.
