A Kentucky grandfather was reduced to tears on his 81st birthday last weekend when his grandson presented him with a newly restored 1957 Chevy Bel Air that had been collecting dust in a garage.

Cameron Dedman wanted to surprise his grandfather and "do it right," so he said he saved money, sold his own car and worked much of last year restoring the classic.

First driving lessons received behind the wheel of father's '57, that appeared similar to this.

Is this your way of making fun of WeWaWes?

Oh, not at all! This is very heartwarming! Maybe grandpa can remember Cameron in his will. "To my grandson Cameron, I bequeath my 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air that you have so lovingly restored, in your name to The Human Fund - Cars for People."

Wait, no. That would be bad.

lol....the car is too pimped out but if the kid did the manual labor then I am OK with it. This restoration does not look like any Chevy I grew up with. 57 and otherwise.+

My dad had the ‘57 four-door as well.

He never loved a car as much.

Problem was I was born the next year, and mom wanted a station wagon.

There were times I’m sure he questioned his decision.

Did you ever see a 2dr post sedan in pearl and white.
Can't say that I recall. This was back in 1966 when I was a senior in HS.
In less than a year I was in the Marines for 3 years and off to "exotic" ports of call.
My parents sold the car while I was gone since they had six kids and needed room in the driveway. Oh well.

(Okay, we’ve [I’ve] probably beaten this one to death).

Not at all, Larry. This gag is like a great song from your childhood that you hear once in a while and it brings back memories of good times.

The old "is this your way of making fun of"...gag is top ten funny.

What made it so funny in the original was that Wewawas was totally serious and you could taste his outrage.

Still funny today, and will be funny forever.

bagster condones this behavior.

Thank you for your service. I should have gone in 1966 but had a childhood illness that kept me out. But, I was grateful for every man who left his family and friends to serve. Still am.

Wow. Looks a lot like candy-apple red, which has about a zillion coats of lacquer.

I need to find a new hosting outfit. I have stuff like this @ photobucket but they changed their rules and now I can’t post it. It’s not a huge thing but the 50+ year difference was startling to the ol man (God I miss him!)
