Samantha Power's account of her 2016 election watch party is either the saddest or the funniest[tr]

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power seems to have surrounded herself entirely with people who agree with her, fencing herself off to a life where her ideas and reflections go unchallenged.

Or at least, such a total echo chamber is our best explanation of why someone would give the sort of interview Power gave recently to Politico.

The former ambassador hosted an election night viewing party in 2016 for a group of powerful and influential women, including former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Bill Clinton apologist Gloria Steinem. HBO was even there to document the entire thing. Things obviously didn’t go as planned.

The way Power tells the story to Politico, however, is so overwrought, so tear-soaked in hand wringing self-importance, that we can’t tell if this is the funniest or the saddest thing we’ve read in a great long while.

“I thought what an amazing night for them. I mean, that’s what America represents to the world, when a glass ceiling is shattered in our country, it creates a whole new sense of possibility for people everywhere,” Power told Politico.

She added, “As the host, I was kind of hoping it wouldn’t be quite the blowout that it was anticipated to be, because I wanted to make sure that people had a chance to interact with Gloria Steinem …(snip)

At her 2016 viewing party, Power continued, “you really see what so many people went through, which was all of that sense of promise and excitement, and frankly, a dose of complacency. And then, it slowly dawning on us that not only was this going to be much closer than anybody anticipated, but that it was not going to end well."

Au contraire! It ended quite well!.............if it weren't for self-importance, liberals wouldn't have any importance at all.....................

Power screamed, “Genocide!” all the time under previous administrations but the greatest genocide in our lifetime happened under her and obama.

The genocide that happened under obama was given a pass. In fact, the genocide happened because of failed obama/hillary policy. She and the liberals just looked the other way when the genocide they caused was happening.

Both sides do this to some extent, but it seems that the Progressives do this almost completely.

They want to "have a conversation" on issues like race relations. Which means they get to yell and insult and criticize and we are supposed to stand meekly and take our beating. They get to harangue us about Global Warming and if we open our mouths, they accuse us of "denying science".

I think most Conservatives can pretty accurately describe Progressive positions on taxes, health care, abortion, environment, and foreign relations. We know where they stand, and what they believe.

I don't think Progressives understand our positions at all. They can't accurately describe our views on issues because they simply won't talk to us. All they know for sure is that we are Hitler.

It looks like Hillary’s loss aged Samantha Power a good 30 years; she looks like a char lady from Dickens’ England. The whole scene, with a group of pompous has-beens like Steinem and Madeleine Albright said to be hoping that the result is close in Hillary’s favor so they can savor it more and longer throughout the evening of Election Night, gives me great satisfaction.

". . .but when the election is called, my daughter, who at that time is four, is just lying in my lap, kind of like this pale, Irish statue, and there’s something about the way she’s lying, I don’t know, that just makes her look like she’s the one who’s going to inherit … what he does is on her, right?”

“It’s like we’ve somehow collectively landed in this place, but the people who are going to feel this, and be affected by this are these innocents. And as it happens, I was looking at a young child, but there’s so many other innocents who are being subjected to the cruelty, as we speak here today. . . ."

It's not even close. Conservatives cannot avoid exposure to liberal media, while liberals would have to go out of their way to find the handful of truly conservative newspapers and websites (there are no TV networks) to get an insight to the thinking from the other side of the aisle.

Hahaha. It would have been a highpoint of humor and satisfaction to have seen the progression through election night of the “party” these criminals, traitors and seditionists had. I laugh at their failure and ridicule their malignant existence. Were they all imprisoned...

How chauvinistic of her. What about Indira Gandhi? Golda Meir? Margaret Thatcher? And I still do not understand this worship of Hillary Clinton...

Same here. But Liberalism *is* a mental disorder, after all.

There’s an HBO special that will never be aired.

Ended splendidly. Thank God. I mean that very sincerely.

STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE-—U.N. ambassador nominee Samantha Power faced a largely friendly audience at her confirmation hearing on Wednesday, but had a rocky and at-times awkward exchange with Sen. Marco Rubio as he pressed her on past comments suggesting the U.S. should apologize for its “sins.”

The Florida Republican repeatedly asked Power for examples of crimes “committed or sponsored” by the United States.

Her response was that “the United States is the greatest country on earth” and she “would never apologize for America.”

Rubio, pausing, said: “So your answer to whether we committed or sponsored crimes is that the United States is the greatest country on earth.”

Power ultimately did not say whether she thought the U.S. has committed crimes. Instead, she cited “mistakes” like the abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. She also cited her past criticism of the Clinton administration’s inaction with regard to the Rwandan genocide.

HBO is missing a huge opportunity that would bring Conservatives in droves.

How in the world do such intellectual light-weights rise to the positions they do?

(Never mind...I recall, now, an even higher-up post-turtle that we’ve endured...)
