A little help for boys clothes sizes, please?

Posted on 01/09/2018 4:37:21 AM PST by LouAvul

My daughter says my grandson wears 5T. She says he's tall for his age. I'm looking to buy him some clothes via Amazon but they don't list "5T." They only go to "4T."

How are they sized?

Look for another source. That size range goes up to 6T.

You can also look for size 5, without the T.

Yes, look elsewhere. I have purchased 5T clothing at the store.

Lou, this might be of some help...

Children’s sizes, US sizes

Scroll down to the second chart. That's for general purposes.

There is no 5 T. T stands for toddler. 5 not considered toddler. Look for size 5

Just type in Boys 5t in the search bar at Amazon and you will find all that are available.

Some manufacturers do 5T & 6T. You have to check the size charts.

* 4T and 4 have the same weight range, but 4 is taller by two inches. * 5T and 5 have the same weight range, but a different height range. The following manufacturers have provided weight and height size charts. Some also provide chest, waist, and hip measurements for children aged 2T to 6X.

A guide to understanding kids sizes

Good luck - I have attained the age of 65 and still have no clue how kids or women’s sizes work....

My wife owns a clothing outlet, www.gorocktherack.com. I work out kid’s clothing sizes most of the damned day.

Kids sizes are tricky - even outside of the numbering system, there are countries of origin to deal with as well. Chinese made clothes (99.999999xinfinity%) are total junk and sized by idiots, for idiots. It’s a terrible world.

Anyway, the T does mean Toddler. What this means is that the shoulders are the size (5 for years) but the length is short. So a 5T and 5 will be the same everywhere, but 5 will be longer, past the waist.

If your kid is 5, buy them 6 or 7. Same with shoes, Until you’re out of the whole Toddler thing because one company’s 5 is another company’s 8. Seriously, they are THAT far off.

If you go to my wife’s website I can help you with actual measurements of the actual clothes and tell you about the fitment live, as you wait. Often Ebayers do this as well. You can send them an email asking for measurements.

Someone told me women’s WP sizes was an abbreviation for wide pooper, but I think I was being set up.

Not only that but, they change regularly.

We joke that it depends on what Chinese model they used that day.

5 T is a size. Try Zuliy to look as well. T stands for toddler and before you ask... it isn’t necessarily for toddlers. It is a way to differentiate a size 5 (for older girls and women) and children. Now... some clothes may be “in between” sizes like hoodies, etc... for example, age 4-6. I don’t want to confuse you but PM me if you need more assistance. Hugs, Mom :)

WP is women’s petite. Unlike many decades ago, a petite was only defined as a woman being less than a size 4 and five feet or so and below. (very little women). WP is now a shorter woman who is more than a size 12... going upwards to a size 24 or larger.. hope this helps. :)

Kids grow quickly. If he was wearing a 5T last week, by the time he gets the new clothes he’ll need size 6. Always go with the next larger size.

Maybe ask he for the inseam measurements for the pants and see if you can find a line that will give measurements (not always easy to find for kids).

We still buy the pants with adjustable waistband, too. Helps if you have tall, skinny boys.

There are some things that you should never buy online: Clothes, shoes, hats, etc. These are things that have to fit properly for comfort and utility.

Items in these personal categories have sizes that are not standard because so many of them are made overseas. If you want a good fit, go to a nearby store. If the recipient is out of town, send them the money or a gift certificate and let them shop for themselves.

Great advice.
