I posted this before so forgive a repeat if you are already aware, or seen this before.
De Santis is on that Nunes committee. De Santis appeared on LOU DOBBS yesterday evening, (although the program was recorded earlier in the day, probably before the FBI visit with Ryan).
He said that the Committee was considering a Contempt Citation with teeth if the FBI did not cooperate, and one that required a vote to “detain and jail” Rubenstein and Wray, in the House JAIL. (I didn’t know they had one.)
De Santis said that type of contempt citation was used by, I believe he said 150 years by the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, and that the Congress learned with Lois Lerner that the ordinary issue of a contempt citation and referral for her prosecution was a joke to Eric Holder, who smirked and shelved the referral.
He also said that a couple of days in the House jail would cause immediate compliance.
Hours later, you have the FBI delivering the damned goods at the stoke of the deadline, reportedly.
Nice, huh? Hardball is apparently no longer out of the equation for the usually noisy but willy nilly congressional oversight committee.
Congress has given up its prosecution of contempt of Congress. It now just refers action to the DOJ as a misdemeanor. It needs to regain its own enforcement ability,
Read it again: “over the next few days”. That ain’t hardball.
Very nice! Who knew the House had a jail?
