I saw KISS for the first time a few years back, on one of their "Retirement, This is Absolutely Our Last Tour" tours. Was with Uncle Ted, who was bombastic as usual.

Sat there, taking in all the spectacle. "Yep, saw that move before. Yep, seen that. Yeah, that too. Yep, (band so-and-so) did that last time I saw them." And so on.

Then I realized that the reason why I'd seen all of these things before is that KISS invented them. The other bands were just copycats.

Changed my entire perspective. Great show in a fairly small (few thousand seats?) venue.

Worst show? Fleetwood Mac, a few years ago. No energy. I'm not even sure if Lindsay Buckingham was on stage. Stevie Nicks needed a teleprompter to remember the words to her songs. Was about as exciting as listening to Muzak in an elevator. Was too bad, I'm sure that they were great in their heyday.

“Was too bad, I’m sure that they were great in their heyday.”

Lindsey still had it going on in 2006.
