For the life of me, I simply cannot think of how to change it so it becomes easier without, at the same time, making it far, far more subjective.

START HERE:

When a receiver catches the ball (AS THE ANNOUNCERS ACTUALLY SAID IN REAL TIME) then the receiver controls the ball ..... then has a knee go down to the ground............... that is a catch NO MATTER WHAT HAPPEND AFTER THAT.

How is that for NOT SUBJECTIVE!!!????

Well, except for the all caps...what if someone has the knee down, and appears to catch it, but after some undetermined period of time it leaves their hands...is that now going to be a fumble?
