For the first time in many years I have heard “Merry Christmas” while out and about.
All salespeople and cashiers are saying Merry Christmas instead of some happy holidays drivel and everyone seems happy about it.

It’s a totally different atmosphere this year, it seems. Part of it is probably the economy picking up, but saying ‘Merry Christmas’ is no longer politically incorrect & I agree that everyone seems happy about it. It’s been a real breath of fresh air,

I agree. I got a Merry Christmas at each of the three big name stores I shopped at yesterday.
I dunno. Trump’s carrying a few extra pounds and the black tux is slimming, against a light/white background he might look like a slightly overweight penguin.
Lots of thought go into official photographs like this, so the composition wasn’t accidental; I imagine the photographer intended it to come out like this.
The only improvement I would have made is to crop it more for a tighter shot - I would have actually left out the lighter part, heh. Just use the doors as the background.
At any rate, this’ll do just fine.
I dropped by the local Kroger yesterday. One of the customer service guys (we used to call them baggers) has been there 30+ years. He told me “I am Merry Christmasing the hell out of everyone, especially the muslims.”
It’s mostly, I think, the freedom from PC. Everyone is a bit more free with their thoughts and speech.
It looks like people are channeling their Inner Trump.
The economy is part of it too.
I went with my mom shopping the other day. Kohls was packed. Wal-Mart, Dick’s Sporting Goods and other retailers were doing brisk business.
I overhead people talking about their retirement accounts. While some mentioned market corrections and such everyone agreed they were miles ahead of the last few years.
I haven’t seen this since that Reagan fella was in office.

It’s nice to have ‘good times’ back. My dad is 95 & WWII Vet. He probably voted in his last presidential election last year & he couldn’t wait to vote for Trump. He loves Trump - watched all his rallies during the campaign and doesn’t miss any of them now. It’s nice to see him laugh and smile again - the last 8 years were pretty “dark” ... no pun intended.

My wife watched all the Republican primary debates just to see what Donald Trump was going to say next.
At first it was the entertainment value but it wasn’t long before she was 100% Trump.
Sadly she passed away in April of 16.
She would have been the first one in line on election day.

My sympathies to you on the loss of your wife. I had two aunts who were totally pro-Trump ... couldn’t wait to vote. Neither made it to election day, but I’m sure they’re smiling in Heaven.
I would love to see my wife’s reactions to President Trumps tweets and speeches.
She hung on every word.
She also loved Melania.
A beautiful woman herself she appreciated how Melania carried herself.
She saw two televised interactions between Donald and Melania and stated “that’s no act. They love each other.”
I’m glad your dad got to see a Patriot in the Oval office again.
Your aunts and my wife are bathed in the glory of heaven now. They know true peace.
