. . .many times lots of windows everywhere shattered.

Years ago, the Reader's Digest posted a letter that a rancher, who lived near a bombing range, posted to the USAF after an enthusiastic pilot flew too low over his home.

The rancher said he was all set to sue the AF for the window breakage. When he reconsidered what the damage to his home would have been if the plane were a Russian, he backed off, but said he'd appreciate it if the pilot flew a little higher.

I’ve heard the double shuttle boom. I got up early one morning while at Disney World and sat out on our balcony and listened. It was cloudy, so, I couldn’t see it.

It’s the difference from when the nose of the craft breaks the sound barrier vs when the stabilizer does.

Yeah, that's movin' a little fast. The engineering used to make the SR-71 *possible" to operate above Mach 3 was so complicated, it's not a wonder no one else ever reproduced it for manned flight. There has been a rumor that work is underway on something dubbed "SR-72", heh, trouble is, the missions carried out by the SR-71 are now done either from orbit or by drones, either way is cheaper and gathers more information at less risk.
