Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the surprise honoree at the ACLU of Southern Californias annual awards dinner Sunday night, accepting the Eason Monroe Courageous Advocate Award for his kneeling protests against the national anthem that sparked a movement across the NFL.
Mr. Kaepernicks appearance, which was not announced prior to the event at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, was met with a standing ovation.
We all have an obligation no matter the risk, and regardless of reward, to stand up for our fellow men and women who are being oppressed with the understanding that human rights cannot be compromised, Mr. Kaepernick told the crowd, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The ACLU’s “Death to America” Trophy?
Howcum Colin gets 30 minutes of fame?
.Honor for Disrespecting the National Anthem and Flag. Very Sad
Slugs of a feather .
Is there anyone who is surprised that this happened in CA?
Aw, isn’t that special.
But refuse yo celebrate. Same sex wedding and you are the epitomy of evil, not someone taking a personal and moral stance.
FUACLU
I guess in the eyes of some lefties, that’s better then a multi-million dollar contract with a football team.
Colin Cancer will proceed to destroying the ACLU like he has the No Fathers League, aka National Felons League.
In a few years, people will look back on how every organization or individual, who backed Colin, ended up in the trash with their self inflicted PC ism.
Did Kaeperdick receive the award wearing a Che t-shirt?
5.56mm
Than. THAN. THAN!
Don't know how I could make that mistake. Never have made it before in my entire life.
So the jobless QB will get his trophy, afterall.
The media made this guy famous. When they drop him he will be broke and alone.
What a waste of talent and oxygen.
