I remember as a kid watching party conventions of 1956 in B&W at my grandparents.

Next Kennedy Nixon in 1960. In 1964 I was mostly thinking about pretty girls and surfing.

But 2 girlfriends’ fathers grilled me to be assured I was from an upstanding and sufficiently conservative Orange County family, and I was.

1968 saw the democrats rioting in the streets of Chicago, and the election of Nixon, under whom I served in the consciption Army.

Nixon 68, Reagan 80, Bush II 2000 and Trump 2016 all pleased me as an adult.

Who would have guessed Trump would pull this off, then be good to his word and largely govern as a conservative like he has?

“best politician” And it drives the professional pols crazy that he wasn’t weaned from a teat in DC by taking
the usual route: intern, ass’t, ticket puncher, ‘rising star’,then insider candidate.
And he’s kicking their flabby .......

Nobody is going to beat Washington in terms of importance. Without him America would not have happened. Without Lincoln it would not be whole. I’m willing to give Trump # 3 though.

Here’s an example of a man with zero spiritual insight, who thinks the country needs a prissy, good-little-boy type in the White House. I.e., that’s what being a “good” man is all about—being a prissy, good little boy.

The author of this column declared himself incapable of seeing any difference between a pro-life candidate and a pedophile Satanist abortion fanatic. He should never be allowed to live it down.

Not an unreasonable ranking. Still fits within the “one of the most” category. All amazing individuals who were there when they were needed.

We share the same memories. In 1956 I sat on grandfather’s lap or at his feet. He and the family were for Stevenson. I was wholeheartedly for Eisenhower.

I worked for Nixon in 1960 while at a Catholic girls school filled with Democrats.

In 1968 I wandered the back streets of the Stock Yard area with a boyfriend and was stopped by the Secret Service wanting to know what we were doing there. Nixon all the way.

Most of the rest of the presidents came and went while I concentrated on my professional career - the Republicans with comfort, the Democrats with trepidation and occasional loathing.

And then HE came. And the relief was palpable. Everything wouldn’t fall apart. There was a chance. There was hope. I’m still smiling.

Pollak asked how Adams would recommend using the tools of persuasion in the toughest of current political contests, Judge Roy Moore’s Senate race in Alabama, which was derailed by allegations of inappropriate conduct with young girls when Moore was in his thirties.

“Well, I don’t think there’s any way that Roy Moore can win,” Adams said frankly. “It seems to me that the ending is already written for this. The real question is, how do you lose as gracefully as possible with the least amount of blowback for the rest of your life?”

“Maybe his best strategy is what he’s doing, which is denying and just going forward. He’ll be able to blame the other side for creating these, what he will call ‘fake allegations,’ but I don’t think the public is having any of it. I think the public, or at least enough of the public to affect the election, has already decided that he’s guilty with the evidence that they’ve seen,” he predicted.

I was afraid that Adams might think that. Even if Moore wins, IMHO the Senate will vote to eject him (unless he wins bigly, which seems to be a forlorn hope at this point).

Win or lose, IMHO Moore has to sue The Washington Post in particular, and the AP and its members, joint and several liability, for libel having a big impact on himself personally. Best case, he creates a class action lawsuit, at least on behalf of his Alabama voters and preferably on behalf of Republican voters generally. Alleging a pattern of libelous “reporting” to include legitimating “(some) Black Lives Matter (but no one else’s life does), the synthesis of the George Zimmerman Trial which should/would never have occurred,

Adams agreed with Pollak’s prognosis for the 2018 election that “it’s starting to shape up as a Republican massacre.”
One mitigating factor being that the Republicans defend only 8 Senate seats in ’18 . . .

And Rush just mentioned that the Republicans are getting big bucks in their coffers and the Democrats are NOT.

For anybody following Adams: He just did a periscope, and said he will soon be saying some things which many Trump supporters/Republicans might not like.

He says he ought to have credibility, since his positions to date are both accurate and credible since he is not a Republican (or conservative either I think).

I usually hear one his periscopes which last 10-30 minutes, and he displays more common sense than hours of back and forth arguments on the forums.

I look forward to his keen insights about humans and communications and persuasion etc.
