Happy Sunday all.
A Thanksgiving show...Our Miss Brooks...Casey Crime Photographer...and ending oddly and unseasonably but fantastic Lux with Casablanca...
What are you up to for Thanksgiving? America's national day of prayer.

Hey Gina, all is well. Dark at 5pm. Lots of winds which has dropped leaves over a yard that was free of them 48 hours ago. Am heading to Williamsburg for Thanksgiving. You?

Keith got a turkey breast that he’s going to put in an apple cider brine and then “fry” it in that oil-less fryer thing. We’re not going anywhere for Thanksgiving.
It’s cool and breezy here now. I don’t like the cold, although it’s not cold *yet.* :-)

Alan Ladd instead of Humphrey Bogart as Rick.
“Host Cecil B. DeMille introduces Alan Ladd and Hedy Lamar as the stars of the Lux production of Casablanca, about the leader of the Nazi resistance and his wife who seek to escape the Nazis with an exit visa held by the owner of a cafe.”

Has he done the cider brine before? If you search google some say not to do that, it turns out stringy meet or something.

Nuts. I like Alan and Hedy but that takes away some excitement.
Bogart was on Lux a lot, for To Have and Have Not...African Queen...great stuff.

Oh! I’ll tell him. I’m sure he’s read up on it, but he may have missed that outcome. It’s hard to mess up a good brine, especially on a normally dry piece of meat like a turkey breast. A little apple cider shouldn’t hurt it. Now, we’re talking apple cider, not apple cider vinegar, in case that’s what you meant.

I’m not taking it. We don’t have television, much less pay for the NFL anything. We listen to the Saints on the radio, but the kneeling NFL ingrates have no leg to stand on.
Did I just make that excellent quip? I think I did! :-D

If the doctor is to be believed, I'm slightly better, overall. Platelet count inched up on the last blood board, the swelling in my liver and spleen are receding a touch. (My liver won't fully recover unless they put in a stent to relieve the portal hypertension.) Weight's down from 266 in June to 240. I have been given a challenge to have it down to 225 by March. The BIG dietary test is now coming up. I told Connie, the basics this year. I still ended up getting a 22 pound turkey. LOL! And I bought a fresh smoked Boston butt from a fundraiser at work. Delivery day is tomorrow. Still spreading out turkey, ham, a SMALL bowl of homemade mashed potatoes, in-the-bird cranberry-sage stuffing, cornbread dressing, a couple loaves of fresh baked bread, cranberry sauce, and two bottles of Leibfraumilch. That's it. Everyone else can bring a covered dish and dessert. I'm going full-on caveman and sticking with the meat and wine. A spoonful of the starches is enough for me. Then in four weeks, we get to be at Mom's. Another run through the gauntlet. I'm weighing myself Wednesday, then New Year's Eve. If I can at least keep the same number on the scale, I'm declaring it a thundering success. LOL! Now, we plan on going here on the 23rd.
Let's see what's on the menu:

That sounds like good news, Viking. I’m glad to hear it.
If that’s your house, it’s gorgeous! If not, it’s still gorgeous, wherever it is. :-)
