Up until a decade or so ago Bensonhurst was largely Italian. Nowadays it's mostly Chinese and other ethnicities. Lots of millennials and so-called "hipsters" in the area now too. But I certainly wouldn't count on many of them to help anyone out. Looks like the guy in the video coming to the punched woman's aid might be an original Italian, though. Video is at the link.

Now, that said, one can deliverately sit wider than you have to in order to prevent crushing your equipment. But women are guilty ofmthis as well, it is not only a male passenger problem. Plenty of women sit wider than necessary and also use purses and bags to take up a seat another rider could be using. They could put purses and stuff on their laps but take up another seat.

Stupid lady, you think "thugs" read about "man-spreading"? They don't read anything. If they did, they would think it was only for white guys since everyone blames everything on them. In any case, they don't give a damn.

Sometime, try telling them to turn down their "music." You'll get called all those names before you get punched in the face. Tell them to watch their language. Same result. Look at them too long. Same result. You don't do ANYTHING, sometimes, the same result.
