Thunderbird is tied to the ESR release schedule so you won’t have to worry about upgrading until next summer.

You could run FF ESR indefinitely for the same reason I run Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB.

I’m sick and tired of constant upgrade churn.

“Hard to believe anyone here still uses Firefox after they booted their founder for supporting traditional marriage.”

****

Yup. Freepers have short memories. I dropped it and the same conservative guy told everyone to use Brave. One of the longest boycotts for me so far..

Let me know what you go to. I’m a Thunderbird user as well.

I run CF. Based off FF ESR and is rock-solid for me and compatible with FF extensions.

I have Waterfox and Pale Moon installed as well.

Thanks for the link. I don’t see any indication of how long the support will continue. At some point, Mozilla will force companies/users off of this version.

Hard to believe anyone here still uses Firefox after they booted their founder for supporting traditional marriage.

Hard to believe anyone still uses Internet Explorer or Edge when Bill Gates and Microsoft matches to the Brady Campaign, is a corporate supporter of the liberal think tank, the Center for American Progress, is a partner of The Nature Conservancy, contributes to the Center for Reproductive Rights, which supports abortion, contributes to Girls, Inc., which is a pro-abortion organization,is a corporate contributor to Achieve, Inc., which is a liberal educational organization that supports Common Core, is a sponsor for the League of United Latin American Citizen’s (LULAC) 2017 National Gala, which advocates for sanctuary cities, is a member of Georgia Prospers, Accessed 8/11/16. Georgia Prospers is a coalition of businesses opposing religious liberty ... etc, etc. etc.

Hard to believe anyone still uses Google Chrome when everything Google does is about collecting personal data, and the company fired someone for writing a well-thought out memo for internal consumption questioning political correctness. Google is actively helping the communist Chinese government suppress dissent while simply blacklisting free speech it dislikes in the United States altogether.

Hard to believe anyone still uses Apple Safari when Tim Cook has made it clear that Apple will use it's considerable financial and corporate clout to promote the social left agenda across the board.

The rest are all using Mozilla or Chrome engines, except for a handful of Linux only niche browsers. Everyone's hands are dirty.

I continue to use Firefox and derivatives because:

I won't use a browser that doesn't have a full menu bar.

I don't like anything that is attached to the Google or Facebook borg-like eco-system if I can avoid it.

I won't use a product that crashes/doesn't work a substantial amount of the time (IE/Edge) except when necessary [e.g. for employer or browser-specific web apps] (IE).

Don’t like using Mozzlia products after what they did to Brenden Eich.

So, how much built in spyware is in it?

What does it report of your browsing, and to whom does it report?

It will also break almost any extension you have.

Actually, I found my answer here:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/

Looks like ESR 52.* is good through June 2018.

To this day, I refuse to use Mozilla software. The wretched freaks that forced out Brendan Eich don’t deserve a share of the market Eich helped to create.

Agreed. And it’s not necessary.

You don’t have to use Firefox in order to use Thunderbird. I don’t of any direct correlation between them.

Well, I disagree. If you look at tech notes/reviews for the Firefox clones (Palemoon, Waterfox) they have technical issues. As far as Google Chrome goes, harvesting of your browsing info is a problem, and MS Explorer is becoming ancient which is why they want you to use MS Edge.

As for Firefox, I'm using an extension that allows posting of links, images, bolding, lists and use of italics with only a single click. It makes my use of HTML with FR much, much easily. Several other extensions (such as word count, speed dial, classic theme restorer among others) make browsing much easier.
